Understanding the challenge of securing the right speaker is something I know well. As the Vice President of Marketing for a software company, I was responsible for a large annual user conference and several smaller events.
Through those experiences I learned that speaker quality either makes or breaks an event. I’ve seen it all—amazing, mediocre, and downright amateur.
Similar to you, my team and I spent a great deal of effort to ensure we had the best speakers that appropriately fit event themes and objectives. My goal as a speaker is to help make that process easier for you by providing all the details needed to determine if I’m a suitable choice for your event.
I sincerely thank you for taking time to consider me.

I’ve been on stage for 20 years—first as a vocal performer and then as a speaker. I’ve keynoted events, delivered workshops, and have also been featured in hundreds of media outlets including the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and NPR.
I have spent the majority of my career as an award-winning marketing executive and entrepreneur, co-founding my first company at the age of 26. Most recently I was the Vice President of Marketing for Aptify, a leading provider of Association Management Software (AMS) solutions for some of the world’s largest professional and trade associations.
I now devote time to writing, consulting, teaching, and speaking. I’ve also written one book titled Your Brain Is A Blender: A Stirring Guide to Holding Audience Attention.
I have been married to my beautiful wife, Lisa, for fifteen years. We live in suburban Chicago and enjoy hiking, running, cycling, kayaking, and dining at our favorite local spots together.

My Most Popular Topics
I speak on topics related to communication, audience engagement, and marketing. I will specifically tailor each presentation to meet your event’s specific goals. My intention is to deliver the outcome you desire.
My most popular topics include the following. Keep in mind that these can either be presented as a keynote or workshop.
Captivate: Influential communicators must understand the art and science of captivation. There are numerous books and resources to improve communication skills, but virtually none on how to captivate an audience. In this presentation, I explain how to hold audience attention using principles from brain science and human learning research.
The Psychological Secrets of Communication: Regardless of skill level, every professional can benefit from news methods that allow them to speak better. In this presentation, I share six scientifically researched insights that empower an effective connection with groups of people when sharing any subject matter.
What Old School Hip Hop Teaches Us About Content: There are four elements of Old School Hip Hop that can inspire the development of compelling content marketing collateral. In this presentation, I explain how to remix content, create authentic messaging, innovate your strategy, and tell a story when producing blog posts, e-books, videos, infographics, etc.
Content Audiences Crave: With more and more information pushed at us daily, the pressure is on to deliver content that is both relevant and memorable. In this presentation, I show how to influence, inspire, and motivate audiences through 21 types of content that have been researched and proven through experience.
Slide Design for Non-Designers: Death By PowerPoint runs all too rampant in meetings and conference sessions. This is because most communicators never learned basic concepts to help them visually convey ideas. In this presentation, I provide step-by-step instructions on creating simple yet stunning slides.
